Comparing differences in two polygon shapefiles using ArcGIS Desktop?

I am a new user to Arcmap 10. I've been trying to figure out how to compare two polygon shapefiles. I need to figure out what the difference is from 2007 - 2013 (increase/decrease) in a couple of TMK maps.
